About The IDSL
The Inter-Dojo Shotokan League (IDSL) is an annual league for brown and black belt competitors that takes place over several dates throughout the year, and is open to all Shotokan Karate organizations in Manitoba.
The first event was held on January 28, 2012 and was a great success! With 30 competitors ranging from 11 and under through to adult ranks, and enough officials for two rings, it worked out very well. We even had a Mexican Fiesta potluck afterwards, and have some videos posted on YouTube!
If you’re not a brown or black belt, you’re still welcome to come and watch, and cheer your friends on!
IDSL Season & Events
The IDSL season is similar to a season of soccer or hockey and consists of league matches that start in January and end in November of each year.
Competition days are to be held on the last Saturday of the month at a host dojo. Points are tracked throughout the season, and at the end of the year awards are given to the top three competitors in each category.
The IDSL is a fun way for participants to maintain their competitive edge throughout the year. It is also a great way for judges-in-training to improve their skills and gain confidence in their judging ability.
How To Get Involved In The IDSL
The IDSL is looking for competitors and judges to participate in the first event of the 2012 season on February 25th, 2012 at Charleswood Karate, 5924 Roblin Blvd. If you are interested in signing up, click here for more info!
