Monday nights, 7:30-8:30p time slot is a Black Belt Kata class, where kata beyond Tekki Shodan and Bassai Dai are explored.
If you’ve got a specific black belt kata you’re working on, bring your questions, and bring your requests for which kata to cover during the class. Sensei Ron is always open to suggestion (but does it his way)!
Kata Groups in IKD Testing Syllabus
All brown and black belt students are encouraged to continue to learn the patterns of kata they do not know. Here are the Kata Groups according to the March 2012 edition of the IKD Testing Syllabus.
Those testing for black belt will choose one kata from the column headed by the rank they are testing for, and examination instructors will choose a second kata from the column listing one rank down. IE: When testing for Nidan, a student will choose one kata to perform from the Nidan column, and the examination instructors will ask them to perform a second, from the Shodan column.
