Programs to help with discipline, fitness level, confidence and focus.
Charleswood Karate offers a variety of classes for students under the age of 13. Parents who train with their children in the general program are welcome to join the Children’s classes (aged 6-12).

Partner exercises during karate class
Young Tigers (ages 4 to 6)
Children’s Karate Classes (ages 6 to 12)
Children 6 to 12 are welcome to become a part of the general program, which requires more attention and partner work.
Students in the general program are encouraged to attend three classes per week in order to test every three to six months for a new belt level depending on age, attendance and effort. Speak to Sensei Ron if you have any questions. (see class schedule)
Extra Events For Kids
Tournaments are available for the children and each event costs approximately $20. They compete in their age bracket, gender and belt rank. The events are non-contact and medals are usually awarded for the top four competitors. Brown and black belt ranks can compete in the Inter-Dojo Shotokan League monthly events, yearly provincials and even then compete nationally and internationally.
Seminars with high-ranking instructors occur a few times a year, and one of the classes prior to kyu rank testing is aimed towards colored belt students of all ages.
